‘God Made You Like That And Loves You Like That’

Pope Francis allegedly told a survivor of clerical sexual abuse that his being gay didn't matter and that God loves him as-is. The recipient of this __ was Juan Carlos Cruz, a survivor of child abuse at the hands of Rev. Fernando Karadima.

The actual quote from the Pop (according to Cruz) was, "Juan Carlos, the fact that you’re gay doesn’t matter. God made you like that, and he loves you like that, and I don’t care."

Unwilling to confirm or deny the alleged statement, the Vatican stated that it usually does not comment on the Pope's private conversations.

Do you think these words will have any bearing on how the Catholic church views homosexuality? The Pope has been kind in speech towards the LGBT community, but are his views enough to sway the hearts and thoughts of those they have held less than favorable views of homosexuality? Time will tell. In the meantime, it is nice to see a gay man be encouraged by the Pope's words.
